Goodwood Revival - Members Meeting - Festival of Speed By Knut Gielen. Published by Delius Klassing. A book review by Marcel Haan.
There are not that many classic car events which appeal so much to the imagination like Goodwood does. The rich history, the inspiring location and the stunning variety of cars. But it’s the uiqueness of the crowd that makes it Goodwood.
Legends like Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart and John Surtees get in their vintage race cars to relive their glory days for a moment. Visitors dress in period style related to the vintage car era. The mechanics, dressed in white overalls have a range of jobs, from checking the oil to replacing the engine. Spectators crowd around the famous drivers trying to make a selfie and get a signature. And the owners of all the wonderful cars have their finest moments at the Festival of Speed.
Knut Gielen who has a keen eye for detail and atmosphere, captured all of this with his camera.
A great book for anyone who has ever visited Goodwood and who wants to bring back memories, and for those who have it on their bucketlist to go there. After reading this book, it won't be long.
